Where it is: Batu Gajah, about a 30-minute drive from Ipoh town.
How to go: You can take a bus or hire a taxi for a quick journey.
Operating Hours: Daily from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
Pricing: RM 5 for locals, RM 10 for tourists.

2. Concubine Lane

Concubine Lane is bustling with boutique shops, quirky cafes, and local stalls offering souvenirs and street food. Walking through this historic lane, I soaked up the old-world charm and modern-day energy that makes it one of the best places in Ipoh. It’s a great spot to grab some ice cream, take photos, and explore Ipoh’s nightlife in a casual way.

Where it is: Jalan Panglima, Ipoh.
How to go: Accessible via a short walk from the Ipoh railway station.
Operating Hours: Most shops open around 10:00 AM and close by 7:00 PM.
Pricing: Free to explore, but spending money is recommended!

3. Sam Poh Tong Temple

Exploring Sam Poh Tong Temple was like stepping into a whole other world. Hidden within limestone caves, this ancient Buddhist temple is adorned with beautiful statues and sacred artifacts. I loved the serene fish pond, and the atmosphere is peaceful—a perfect escape from the city hustle.

Where it is: Gunung Rapat, Ipoh.
How to go: It’s about 5 km from Ipoh town; taxis are the easiest option.
Operating Hours: Daily from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
Pricing: Entry is free, but donations are appreciated.

4. Ipoh Night Market (Gerbang Malam)

If you’re wondering what to do in Ipoh at night, the Ipoh Night Market is the answer. Here, I found everything from unique souvenirs to delicious street food. The market is a lively spot that comes alive after sunset, making it a great Ipoh night walk experience.

Where it is: Jalan Dato Tahwil Azar, Ipoh.
How to go: Just a quick drive from most parts of Ipoh.
Operating Hours: Opens at 6:00 PM and runs until midnight.
Pricing: Free to enter, but bring cash for shopping and snacks!

5. Lost World of Tambun

For a full day of fun, Lost World of Tambun offers a thrilling adventure with water slides, hot springs, petting zoos, and more. I felt like a kid again splashing around and trying out every ride. A must-visit for families and thrill-seekers alike, this theme park is one of the top things to do in Ipoh.

Where it is: Tambun, Ipoh.
How to go: Easily accessible by bus or taxi.
Operating Hours: Daily from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM (hours may vary).

6. Ipoh Railway Station

The Ipoh Railway Station is a stunning blend of Moorish and Victorian architecture that’s often called the “Taj Mahal of Ipoh.” Taking a stroll around this historical building gave me a sense of Ipoh’s rich colonial past.

How to go: A short walk from Ipoh Old Town.
Operating Hours: Open 24 hours for visitors.
Pricing: Free to explore.

7. Birch Memorial Clock Tower

A prominent landmark in Ipoh, the Birch Memorial Clock Tower is a tribute to the British colonial history of Malaysia. I enjoyed learning about its history while admiring the clock tower’s intricate details.

Where it is: Ipoh Old Town.
How to go: Walkable from the railway station.
Operating Hours: Open all day.
Pricing: Free to visit.

8. Han Chin Pet Soo Museum

For a deep dive into Ipoh’s tin mining history, Han Chin Pet Soo Museum is the place to go. This fascinating museum tells the stories of the Hakka miners and their opulent social clubs. I learned so much about Ipoh’s early economy here.

10. Gunung Lang Recreational Park

Finally, Gunung Lang Recreational Park offers a slice of nature with its lake, limestone hills, and green spaces. Renting a boat here was a perfect way to end my Ipoh adventure.

How to go: A 10-minute taxi ride from town.
